Yes. We had a couple of Fibre optic cables landing in Berbera last year. So companies like this one can leverage some of the bandwidth to internet providers and companies like DP World. Somcable are also probably doing their own one.
Wingu also announced that its carrier-neutral data centre in Berbera, Somaliland is seeing strong interest from both local and international customers.
As one example, the PEACE cable, which is hosted in the facility on behalf of the local landing party, is already a customer and is providing its Ethiopian customers with additional capacity options.
Wingu adds that it is excited by the potential of the market which is growing rapidly following the liberalisation of the countryโs telecoms sector and the entry of Safaricom as a second mobile network operator.


Somalilandโs Telecommunications Sector Sees Landmark Cable Landing
Somaliland has made a significant advancement in its telecommunications industry. The arrival of the G2A submarine cable, brings Somalilandโs total submarine cable connections to three, alongside Peace cable and 2Africa cable.
The G2A cable will significantly enhance Somalilandโs internet infrastructure, providing faster and more reliable connections as well as drive digital growth across the Horn of Africa region.
Industry analysts view this development as a sign of the maturing and increasingly competitive nature of Somalilandโs telecommunications sector.
In line with Ethio telecomโs โNext Horizon: Digital & Beyond 2028โ strategy, the CEO emphasized the companyโs commitment to expanding digital solutions beyond national borders, stating:
