The 40% is old Hargeisa which already used to have piped water. For a long time, about 20% of Hargeisa’s old system only managed to recieve water as water pressure was low.
So it seems, they have successfully fixed the water pressure issue for the old system.
Apart from the continuous efforts of Hargeisa Water Agency ( HWA) towards increasing the water service coverage, the agency is also progressing well in the path of digital transformation.
To efficiently manage the water system, gathering real-time data like water consumption is a must . Therefore, HWA in Somaliland has introduced state -of -the -art IoT smart water meters, which transmit the data wirelessly to HWA servers . This eliminates the need for manual meter readings in the future.
This is a landmark achievement. Hargiesa finally gets water.
