It is very unfortunate that Berbera has no City Plan yet. This is a blank-canvas city that could one-day become a rival to Dubai or Singapore - if that is what they want to achieve. It all starts with clear plan.
For a start, no one should be given permission to build anything within 300m of shore line. This 300m should be a long stretch that runs parallel to the shore which can be used in the future to create a scenic transport corridor and other aminities like public parks and playing fields.

Under the leadership of President Dr. Cabdiraxmaan Maxamed Cabdillaahi (Cirro), these initiatives mark a significant milestone for Somaliland’s progress.
Berbera Industrial Zone – A game-changer for industrialization, trade, and job creation. This economic hub will attract investment, support local industries, and position Somaliland as a regional powerhouse for sustainable growth.
Electricity Expansion Project – Backed by the World Bank, this ambitious project features 12MWp Solar PV, 36MWh battery storage, and a 13.5KM 33kV evacuation line, ensuring a sustainable and reliable power supply for Berbera’s expanding economy.
Infrastructure Development – Several key road and drainage projects have been successfully completed, improving connectivity and resilience:
69 km Berbera–Sheikh Road

These strategic investments reinforce Somaliland’s bold vision for economic and social progress, strengthening Berbera’s role as a key driver of national development.
This is very good. Electricity energy prices in Somaliland is too high and Berbera’s 20 cents/kw is very competitive.
Also its better to be energy independent!
