They’re making significant progress on this road Masha Allah. They have pretty much done the road up to Dacarbudhuq which is about 66km from Hargeisa. They have done about 25 out of 34 km between Dacarbudhuuq to lafaruug. Most of the culverts and span bridges have also made major progress as you can see Dacarbudhuq bridge looks 75% done. My estimate they will have done 100 -120 km of the 150km to Berbera by the end of the year.
How wack is this map from IGAD. The Berbera Corridor seems to just stop at Addis, while the Djibouti and Mogadisho corridor goes everywhere. We literally had the FAO supply chain reports continually mentioning that traders in Dollo and Beled Hawo choosing to import from Berbera Port.
The hinterlands of Oromia and Somali regions including Degodia regions Mooyaale etc have always used Berbera to send their livestock to the Arab World.
The trade in this part of the world is livestock and the best cheapest route out of the region for livestock has always been Berbera.
Hargeisa to Berbera foggy morning.
