That’s much more like it. If half of the private investors in Somaliland, thought about investing in industries like these instead of HOTELS, Somaliland would be so self sufficient. The hotel recently inaugurated in Hargeisa Carro Edeg cost $6 million and is nestled between 10 other hotels. There are about 20 hotels planned for Berbera in the coming years, whilst the cement used to build these hotels is imported and a cement factory lays derelict nearby!
This “factory” came at a perfect time for Sanaag with the completion of the jetty making it accessible. Light industries can now be built all across these previously unreachable areas.
