Hargeisa, Somaliland

Any idea why they placed a bridge here which goes through congested Waaheen market when further east and west of the city have no bridges.

This is a street in San Francisco. The terrain resembles Hargeisa’s hilly suburbs.

The difference a bit of paving makes.

Improving the Drainage System on the Hargeisa Airport Road.

The road leading to Hargeisa Airport is a key commercial area with various businesses and ongoing construction projects. However, the drainage system along this road has not been properly covered, causing significant problems for businesses and pedestrians.

Main Issues:

  1. Obstructed Access: Businesses are struggling as customers and vehicles cannot pass easily.

  2. Hygiene Concerns: Stagnant water and waste accumulation create health risks.

  3. Traffic Disruptions: The blocked drainage system affects smooth movement along the road.

Proposed Solutions:

  1. Covering the Drainage: The local government should properly cover the drainage to prevent disruptions.

  2. Re-designing the System: Adjustments should be made to ensure efficient water flow without blocking businesses.

  3. Collaboration Between Stakeholders: Authorities and business owners should work together for a sustainable solution.

Urgent action is needed to prevent further economic losses and improve accessibility in this vital commercial zone.

THe open drain is not just health hazard but also risk to people and children. This must be covered. I know it is very expensive endevour but people safety is more important.

I think the Local Government should ask every business to contribute at least 50% of the cost of covering the part that passes their property.

The lack of bus stops!
