Absolutely. This is what Somaliland should avoid. Every single project should be first looked from “What is in it for the Country/region/village etc” and not what is it for me. B/c If the country remains poor and few bigwigs start hording $$$ and then moving those $$$ offshore bank accounts. The country will become even poorer and more hopeless.
In 2022 we still have white managers of mines, and locals doing the donkey work and getting chased as if they are part of a fox hunt! The auction should be held locally, all buyers should come to Mozambique to observe the gems physically not to Thailand the auction is online for goodness sake. The cutting and refining should be done locally not shipped off!
