Reconstruction of Waaheen Market, Hargeisa

No cars in Morocco market. I envision similar for Waaheen. It should only be for emergency or delivery vehicles.

Why use Concrete? It is the most expensive form of pavement.

Hargeisa is surrounded by rocky mountains, I think cobble stone pavement is more economical as well as create local jobs.

This is Baydhabo.

Not sure about the way the concreted section and interlock section meet/join. Otherwise its coming together nicely.

No car zone!

I thought/hoped this market would be a car car free zone.

We need to start prioritising pedestrians. Cars will destroy these pavings in no time.

Reminds me of Dubai old markets.

I don’t know why the Waaheen Committee did not enforce a proper roads for the market. A small adjustment like the one below would have made the market and its road system more modern.

The road in the yellow lines would have become a beautiful 400m straight road. While those builds would just be moved to the green area. In fact, other benefits would have been there for other buildings i.e. Some would be expanded beyond their current foot print to fill the gabs left behind. Or those gaps would have been used for car parks.
