This Xenagama species is found mainly in Somaliland They are even found up to 2000 m (mainly between 1300 and 1800 m) above sea level. They inhabit grasslands, savannas, deserts and volcanic areas with their habitat including massive rocks, steep cliffs and deep canyons.

This is the second time this type of species where caught being smuggled out of the country.
