I think what Somaliland desperately needs is a fully equipped hospital which acts as a anchor referral hospital. If Taiwan is able to help build one of that, that will go a very long way. Imagine the day when Somalilanders will no longer need to send their sick and elderly people on an expensive plan ticket to Turkey for mundane medical issues?
Taiwan donates medical supplies to Somaliland

Taiwan Government and âSimply Helpâ foundation based in the USA work together and continue to share daily necessities and medical supplies with Somaliland Government to show the rock-solid friendship as well as the borderless love.
Deputy Ambassador Nabil Chengchi WU of the Taiwan Representative Office in the Republic of Somaliland underscores Taiwan Governmentâs efforts to integrate resources from NGOs and private enterprises to channel to Somaliland. Since 2020, the Simply Help Foundation continues to donate daily necessities to Somaliland. The said foundation operates in more than 20 countries and not only donates needed materials but also trains people to learn living skills. In 2005, the said foundation acknowledged the Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC.
Taiwan Representative Office, on behalf of the Taiwan Government and Simply Help Foundation, donates daily and medical necessities to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to assist the local people in need. It is believed that a friend in need is a friend indeed.
Taiwan is helping and Taiwan has long been contributing on many fronts. Our efforts is proudly described as the âTaiwan Modelâ. We are always ready to share with Somaliland what we have and what we are good at.
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) â The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Tuesday (Dec. 28) announced it will donate 150,000 doses of Taiwanâs domestically-developed Medigen vaccine (MVC-COV1901) to Somaliland.
As the COVID pandemic continues and the Omicron variant spreads in Africa, MOFA issued a press release announcing the donation. ChargĂ© dâaffaires of Taiwanâs representative office in Somaliland Wu Chen-chi (ćłéźç„ș) and Somaliland Minister of Health Hassan Mohamed Ali Gafadhi signed an agreement on Taiwanâs vaccine donation on Monday (Dec. 27).
According to MOFA, Somalilandâs Ministry of Health officially provided Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Medigen a few days ago on the basis of the countryâs domestic health laws and policies. Taiwanâs foreign ministry stressed that the nation âcontinues to care about global public health and epidemic prevention issues,â and is willing to cooperate with the international community to solve global health problems.
