What engineering book do they read? sand banking in a flash flood zone. Have they not learned a lesson from the fiasco in Dacar Budhuq bridge?
It all comes down to budget.
Woefully inadequate, how any engineering firm signed off putting a culvert box of this size on a river of this size is beyond staggering. Might as well build a damn!
Unbelieable. Really. There was enough money, no doubt, to do proper job. But they wanted to only spend the minimum and pocket the rest. Very sad indeed.
Carrying on regardless.
Arabsiyo
They donât care.
Culverts are meant for creeks not for seasonal rivers. Arabsiyoâs Agamsaha dry river should have gotten a Bridge not a culvert.
Even if a culvert was the only solution affordable, then that small number of outlets will certainly not enough for a such a huge volume of water that runs down this dry river. At least double that culvert should at least keep the structure stable. But as it is, it will certainly be damaged.
You donât have to be stractural engineer to see that this wonât work. I am just shocked at the level of corruption that it takes for this go ahead as it is. It must be âaddiction levelâ corruption. Because drug addicts will do whatever it takes to get their next fix.
Itâs very clear these bridges donât span wide enough. At this stage we will need to start implementing ways of slowing the torrent down up stream with dams, or the like. You would have thought they learnt from all the other bridges along the corridor that were subpar.
